Pro Stunt Scooter Assembly and Maintenance Guide
Congratulations on your new scooter! To ensure a smooth and safe riding experience, follow this comprehensive guide for assembly and maintenance.
Scooter Setup
-
Unboxing Your Scooter
- Carefully remove the scooter from its box and plastic packaging.
-
Inspecting Bolts and Fasteners
- Before riding, check all bolts on the deck to ensure they are securely tightened. This prevents premature rattling and part wear.
- Pay special attention to the axles and brake bolts.
-
Tools Required
- Most scooters come with an Allen key suitable for clamp bolts, typically size 5 or 6.
- For axles and compression bolts, a size 5 Allen key is commonly used.
- Important: Always use the correct size Allen key. Ensure the tool is fully inserted and turned evenly to prevent stripping the bolt's socket. Investing in a high-quality set of Allen keys is highly recommended.
-
Adjusting Compression
- The compression system holds the front of the scooter together and affects how loosely or tightly the handlebars turn.
- For guidance on dialing in the perfect amount of compression, refer to the instructional video below.
- Warning: Loosening the compression too much might make your whips faster but can result in 'headshake' and equipment damage.
-
Attaching the Handlebars
- Once the compression is set, place the handlebars onto the scooter.
- Align the handlebars with the front wheel.
- Using the supplied Allen key, tighten the clamp bolts.
- It's crucial to tighten each clamp bolt a small amount at a time, alternating between bolts, until they are firmly secured (but not overly tight).
Scooter Maintenance Tips
Regular maintenance is essential for scooter safety and to keep your scooter in optimal condition. Like any vehicle with moving parts subject to vibration, a scooter requires regular checks.
-
Frequency of Maintenance
- The intensity of your rides dictates how often maintenance is needed. Manufacturers often recommend checking your scooter before every ride.
- Neglecting maintenance can lead to uneven wear on parts and may void your warranty. It also increases the risk of accidents.
-
Maintenance Checklist
- Ensure all bolts are tight to prevent rattling.
- Regularly inspect wheels for damage and wear.
- Check brakes for responsiveness and wear.
- Keep the scooter clean to prevent dirt buildup, which can affect performance.
